Backpacking is all about spending time living outside and seeing pretty nature! Usually you hike in to your campsite with a big backpack carrying all your gear (food, sleeping bag, layers, and much more) and spend some days out there. In SUOC we usually hike in to a lean-to or campsite and spend one night where we make a campfire, eat dinner, and hang out!

Bio:

I started backpacking my freshman year and now feel so lucky to get to introduce people to this amazing activity. The best part about backpacking is the sense of community that you gain through the shared experience of spending a night in the woods. It is incredibly rewarding and is the best way to disconnect and unwind from the business of Syracuse. Come backpack!

Favorite memory from suoc trip:

My favorite backpacking memory was on Henry DeVasher’s winter backpacking trip to Hurricane Mountain. Waking up in the morning to light snow falling is something I will never forget.
