addling is about flow and connection. We learn the paddling strokes and study the waters around us so that we may be part of it. Like any activity in SUOC, it’s about connecting with nature but also with each other. Whether it is having a boat partner on a beginner canoe trip to Skaneateles Lake, or showing up to kayak pool roll sessions, or being part of the crew going on the whitewater kayaking river trip at the end of the school year, we connect uniquely with the people around us, to ourselves, and to the flow of the water, at our own pace escaping the fast paced world we live in.

Bio:
Paddling has been a passion of mine my whole life and continues to be through SUOC!
- I grew up going to canoe camp, Songa, where I went on flatwater and whitewater overnights in New York and the Canadian wilderness. This is also where I learned to roll in a kayak.
- I kayaked on the LA River growing up.
- I became a SUOC paddling leader Spring of my freshman year at SU
- I was part of organizing kayak pool roll sessions into the club
- I ocean kayaked in Australia and lead climbed in their Outdoors club
- I have co-led a whitewater trip to the Salmon River
But while paddling is awesome, my passion lies in teaching and watching people grown. Seeing people connect to others and themselves, to water, and to art of paddling, are why I love this activity.
This niche activity that brings in many ranges of expertise and experiences. We have weekly flatwater trips, people training for canoe races, moonlight paddles, portaging clinics, roll clinics, whitewater river trips, and so much more to come!
Favorite memory from suoc trip:
Our first kayaking river trip was very special. Sam took a few of us to the Salmon River and while it was frigid in the water, the weather was sunny and the vibes were high. It was pure bliss and happiness. It was the start to having whitewater back in the club!!!!
